Peace Wall

This is the Peace Wall in Myrtle Beach. It surrounds the park and playground that the kids visit when we are in town. It was done in 1995. I find all the images fascinating. Most of the tiles were done by children around town, some classes, and some independent artists. The entire playground is elevated off the ground with this wall enclosing it. The tree covered swings line the other end of the park. This is where most of Myrtle Beach's homeless persons spend their days. The public library is on the other end. This is where I went today while Luke and Charlie were at school.
Another view of the wall. My favorite tile so far is the blue tiles with the red house, tree, and a person reading a book. I don't know why this is my favorite. It just always catches my eye.

I just had to put in a picture of Luke I got today. One coming of Charlie tomorrow. Everyone pray for Charlie to have a great trip to Columbia tomorrow to the Zoo. He's so excited!

oh wow. LOVE the wall, Heather. I'd love to see it in person. It looks cool. Great photo subject for your blog too!

Luke looks so grown up there. How old is he exactly?

Hope Charlies has a great trip to the zoo tomorrow! I love the zebras!

Hey, just got off the phone with Jeff, he sounds good. Great Picture, how come we've not seen this while visiting? Luke is so cute...He's growing up so fast.

Poppie and I will pray for Charlie-o's safe travel to the zoo. I'm sure he'll be fine...and believe it or not you'll make it too.

The wall looks cool. It doesn't look like it is as busy as the rest of MB. Looks like a nice serene place. A place to reflect. I would like to visit there the next time we see ya. Luke is so handsome. So is Charlie. I can't believe they are so grown up. Seems like only yesterday I was in the hospital holding both of them.

Are you going with Charlie on his field trip? I go on Jake and Emily's, but Emily always would rather ride the bus and act like I am not there and Jake always wants to ride with me and is next to me the whole trip. It is funny how different they are. Anyway, hope it goes well. I love to go to zoos, Oh, that's right, I live in one. :)

Luke looks so grown up Heather! Have you been feeding him miracle grow again??

The wall is lovely. Its eye-opening to see & read things children write.

I love the wall, each segment could be its own poster or blog. Wish Beaufort would do something like that with the kids at the waterfront park.
